i am in love with ashanti's new album but her latest music video for her single, Good Good is a complete disappointment. the song is cute but in the video she is stereotyping women. women are more than housewives and arm candy, we have fully capable minds too.

I don't think she's trying to stereotype women on purpose. I think the message of her video/song is that a lot of women complain about their cheating spouses, and its mainly because they don't do the things that men are used to. Women in general are more independent nowadays and I think men haven't gotten the newsflash and because of this go astray. It just seems stereotypical because a man has yet to boast about the things he does to keep his woman around. Ashanti is just reminding women of the old days, when women didn't have anything else to do BUT tend to their man Lol, which is why marriage lasted. I'm just waiting for a man to say he got that "Good Good" and do a video of the things he would do to keep us around. Oh how I would loveeeee that.
good call lady, i feel like the video somewhat creates this "blame the victim" mindset. sure, maybe a girl lacked in a relationship causing the guy to stray BUT in essence, it's the guy's lack of loyalty and gutt to man up and deal with the situation maturely by either fighting temptation or ending the relationship first before getting with another honey. it's not only the man who has to cope with this new generation renaissance woman, women gotta cope with it too, having to adjust to independence while still keeping the household intact. but eh, to each his/her own.
i like it...may convince me to get her album. i don't think it's stereotyping women. i think it's cute and satirical. or it could be just an excuse to wear thigh highs throughout the video. plus, who is really looking to Ashanti to be the voice of women...
